Mean little boy...

If you know Carter at all, you know that he is a bit "spicy".  We were sitting in church yesterday and he looked across the isle to find a girl his age.  She smiled and waved at him and he turned to me and asked, "Mom, do I have to like everyone?"  "No", I said, "but you do have to be kind to everyone."  He sat quietly for a few minutes then whispered to me, "Mom, that makes no sense."  While I appreciate him at least trying to sort out what I'd said, I realized that at four years of age, he doesn't have the wisdom yet to understand the difference.  He couldn't figure out why not liking someone isn't  license to be mean.  I guess we've got some work to do!
